Match Report

1st Division Galwegians overcame 3rd Division outfit Nenagh as expected in a very scrappy encounter at Crowley Park. Nenagh played with the advantage of a gale in the first-half but were unable to capitalise, with their only return being a solitary John Lillis penalty on 30 minutes.

With two Nenagh players in the sin-bin, Galwegians took full advantage to take the lead before the break through a Rob O’Beirne penalty and a try by centre Chris Brigl on the stroke of half-time. O’Beirne added two penalties shortly after the restart to stretch their advantage, and despite plenty of chances neither side could make any further impression on the scoreboard, meaning ‘Wegians comfortably secured their passage into the quarter-final.
