Galwegians RFC runs one of the biggest youth sections in the country and the Galwegians Youth Academy has become one of the most vibrant sections of the club with over 350 players and over 40 coaches and team managers.
The main aim of the Academy is to provide a safe and fun environment for young people to learn how to play top quality rugby. Players from ages 6 to 15 tog out every Saturday morning while the older 16 to 19 age groups train on week nights. See our Player Information page for more details.
Minis (under 7 to under 12)
The Minis participate in regular “blitz” tournaments both at home and away with clubs in Connacht and all over the country throughout the season. In a longstanding tradition, the U12s go on tour to London at the end of each season and there are also trips for various grades to watch Ireland play.
Youth (under 13 to under 19)
Youth age groups participate in provincial league and cup competitions in Connacht, as well as invitation matches around the country.
Membership
Membership is open all season long. Just come along on Saturday morning, or contact your team manger.
New players can try rugby for a couple of weeks before joining, but we’re sure you’ll love it. Subscription is compulsory and you can sign up online or in the clubhouse on a Saturday morning. We provide discounts available for family membership. See the Membership page in Services for further information.
The official rugby age grades are explained on our Age Grades page.
Sponsors
The Youth Academy would like to thank it’s generous sponsors, especially RDJ Solicitors, The Connacht Hotel and Farrell Travel for their continuing support.
