Galwegians got their promotion bid back on the rails with a 3 try victory over Bective Rangers on a bright, mild autumnal day at Crowley Park on Saturday afternoon.

Wegians got off to a perfect start when after 6 minutes full back Darragh Leader bamboozled the cover defense by running with the ball in two hands and rounding the fullback to score under the posts, having been set away by an exquisitely timed pass from outhalf Dave Clarke. 6 mins Galwegians 7 - Bective Rangers 0

Wegians were unable to impose their will on a determined visiting team, who worked their way back into the game with a couple of penalties from outhalf Lynn.
It led to a tense, error strewn half that finished with the minimum difference between the teams. Half-time Galwegians 7 Bective Rangers 6.

Wegians started the second half at a gallop and forced an yellow card infringement from the Dublin side which saw their openside flanker Daly spend 10 minutes in the bin. Leader slotted the ensuing penalty. 42 mins Galwegians 10 Bective Rangers 6.

Wegians piled on the pressure with the extra man advantage, but Bective held firm. However, the sky blues scrum was becoming more dominant as the match progressed and their superiority was rewarded with a penalty try. 55 mins Galwegians 17 Bective Rangers 6.

Wegians spent the last quarter camped in the visitors 22 but were unable to add the bonus point try as luck just would not go their way. To rub salt into the wounds of being unable to get that final try, Bective broke out of defense and scored a try themselves through Lynn with the last play of the game.
