Match Report
This week's 3rd's game, played in Dangan rather than at home due to pitch availability was played with great spirit.
As NUIG could not field a full team the 13-a-side regulation was employed. Galwegians drew first blood after some good back play resulted in a try. This was cancelled shortly after by a try from the "home" side. Wegians responded with two further tries before half time.
Some brilliant back play by half-backs Bawney and Marcus Cosgrave together with three-quarters Paul Colleran and man of the match Ger McMahon closed out the game crossing the line for four more tries in the second half.
Defensively again the tackle count was headed by Johnny Derrick, Dave Derham and Ian Kenny. Open field was greatly contributed to by the creativeness of back rows Jason Yellop and Shane O'Connor.
Four wins on the bounce for Thirds see us play Loughrea this weekend in a refixed match with a trip to Clifden to round up the league phase of J2 very much in the hunt for second place.
