Match Report
The U13s travelled to Dunmore at the weekend with a squad of 32 and played two fixtures, a league match V Claremorris and a challenge match V Dunmore.
The Claremorris game was closely contested and although Claremorris took a strong lead with two converted tries in the first half and another try early in the second half, Wegians faught back hard scoring two tries and a penalty of their own. Wegians were camped in the opposition half for most of the last 10 minutes and almost scored again under the post with the last play of the game but unfortunately were held up about a foot short of the line. Final result Claremorris 19 Galwegians 13.
The Dunmore game was a more open affair and the hosts took an early lead. There was a lot of free flowing play as each side traded attack and defense. Dunmore led by two unconverted tries at half time before the Wegians boys got one back early in the second half. Dunmore won out in the end in spite of a spirited display by Wegians and the final score was Dunmore 20 Galwegians 5.
The next fixture for the group is a home fixture against Westport next weekend.
