Match Report

Wednesday night under lights at Corinthian Park saw our team taking the spoils in a hard fought win against the Dunmore girls. The game kicked off with a first try for the visitors in the early minutes of the game. Our attack was strong, however we were getting turned over too easily and Dunmore were running back at us hard to score.

The girls settled in and were soon on the scoreboard with Peace scoring under the posts to pull us level. In the following 20 mins our forwards put in a great shift particularly in the carry from, Caoimhe Madden, Peace and Michaela, and really solid defense from Iseult, Izzy, Aoibheann & Grace. Two more tries from Caoimhe Hayes saw us pull ahead with the half time score at 17-15.

The second half kept both teams in it tit-for-tat. As we drew into the final minutes of the game, with CRFC/GW leading by 4 points, the Dunmore Girls were camped on our line for what seemed an age! The defense at this moment was phenomenal, with the girls holding the Dunmore team up again and again, eventually turning the ball over and popping out to our Player of the Match Caoimhe Hayes, who ran the pitch to put the game beyond doubt.

The Dunmore girls did manage to get a consolation try at the death, to leave the score Corinthians/Galwegians 31 Dunmore 27. Our converted tries from Lauren & Olivia proved decisive.

Next up Sligo away on Sunday K.O. 12:30. We will need all hands on deck for this one, so please make every effort to be available and make training on Friday at 6:30 at Galwegians. Well Done Girls!
