Match Report
On an afternoon made for rugby, the U15's lost their plate match in Crowley Park, 20 - 38, to a strong Connemara team.
The team hampered all season by low numbers was bolstered by the return of two old teammates - Senan Flynn and Conor Farrell.
Galwegians opened strongly with the pack setting an impressive platform, dominating the line out and winning scrums against the head. This was drilled home when second row Cillian Jordan took a line out outside the 22 and sprinted over for his first ever try. However, an early injury to captain Jamie Connolly, saw management empty their bench and the lack of replacements was to tell in the second half.
Strong, evasive running from Zack Kelly saw him continue his impressive strike rate this season, adding to first half touchdowns from Senan Flynn and Conor Farrell.
Turning at half time to play, towards the club house and into the wind it was clear that the boys would have a battle on their hands to defend their 20 - 10 lead. Despite getting close to the Connemara line on a number of occasions all the scores in the second half were to come from Connemara.
While the result didn't go as we would have liked there were positive performances from all the players. There is a good core of Galwegian Clubmen with potential, so hopefully next season will have some successful outings.
Thank you to Martin, Maccon, Justin and Conor for looking after the U15's. Hopefully we can recruit some new players over the summer and if anyone knows any one interested, please send them our way.
