Match Report
U17 defeated Corinthians 10-8 on Sunday last in Corinthians, to continue their strong start to the year with 4 wins from 4 and they are now top of the table.
This game was played in pretty poor conditions but the win extra pleasing due to the fact that the Blues were short 6 of their squad due to injury and lads on holiday.
However, the other squad members with some help from some of our U16 players got us over the line.
Corinthians scored first to take a 5-0 lead but Wegians struck back soon after with a cracking try in the corner by Roan Elwood to level it up.
It was in the second half that Galwegians really showed their metal with a great defensive display to pretty much control the game.
With the score tied at 5 all Galwegians trusted their passing skills and turned down a penalty in front of the posts and went for a quick tap which resulted in Harry Walshe going over for the try.
Galwegians controlled the game from that point on with some really smart kicking in behind and some solid defence to close it out.
Next up is Ballinasloe in two weeks time in Galwegians.
