U17s 44 – Connemara 0

An excellent start to the Connnacht U17 league programme by the team and without 7 players due to the Jes trip to France and injuries to a number of players. Whilst the preseason had gone relatively well, this was now the real stuff and facing Connemara was never going to be easy, despite this Wegians got off to a great start with a brace of tries from Eamon Brannigan which was based on outstanding defense by the forwards and subsequently great ball movement among the backs which led to a further 2 tries before half time. Wegians continued in the second half with the strong defense and good attacking play, but Connemara also asserted themselves and put Wegians under more pressure in the latter stages.

However a great result overall and the team can now look forward to next Sunday versus Ballina.
