Women’s Firsts 19 – Old Belvedere 22

Galwegians started brightly in this week’s clash with Old Belvedere, showing real intent and accuracy throughout the opening half. The home side struck first on 11 minutes when Murphy finished well out wide, with Hession adding the extras.

Continued pressure paid off again on 25 minutes as Foley powered over, Hession once more converting. Just before the break, O’Brien crossed to give Wegians a deserved 19–5 half-time lead.

Old Belvedere, however, mounted a strong second-half comeback. Callan touched down on 50 minutes, converted by Simmons, before Flynn added another try on 61 minutes to narrow the gap. With momentum shifting, O’Connor struck late to complete the turnaround.

Despite a superb first-half showing, Galwegians were edged out at the death, falling 19–22 in a hard-fought encounter.
