Match Report

The Bluebelles continued their impressive early-season momentum with a commanding 36–17 victory over Wicklow, powered by a stunning debut from 19-year-old Jemima Adams-Verling, who ran in four tries in a performance to remember.

The hosts struck first after just three minutes, as full-back Sophie Cullen dived over in the corner to open the scoring. Cullen doubled her tally midway through the first half, forcing her way across the line in the 24th minute to strengthen the Bluebelles’ grip on the contest.

Adams-Verling marked her debut in style just four minutes later, bulldozing through four Wicklow defenders to touch down, with Siofra Hession adding the conversion for a 17–0 lead.

The young winger wasn’t done there—five minutes later she read play brilliantly to intercept a pass inside Wicklow’s half and sprint clear to score again, extending the advantage to 20–0 at half-time and underlining the Bluebelles’ dominance.

After the restart, the home side maintained control. A pinpoint cross-field kick from Hession found Emily Foley in space, who unselfishly fed Adams-Verling for her third try on 55 minutes, before Hession added the extras.

Adams-Verling completed her dream debut ten minutes from time, crashing over for her fourth try to seal an emphatic win. Hession’s flawless kicking rounded out the 37–17 victory.

The result keeps Galwegians, the Bluebelles’ senior side, top of the Women’s Division after two rounds, with Creggs RFC graduate Jemima Adams-Verling emerging as the league’s leading scorer.
