Women’s Firsts 36 – Wicklow 36

Galwegians battled to a thrilling 36–36 draw away to Wicklow, in a high-scoring contest that saw both sides go score for score throughout.

The Blue Belles started strongly, with Aisling Whyte crossing for an early try on 4 minutes, converted by Nicole to give Galwegians the perfect start. Wicklow responded, but Galwegians continued to show attacking intent, with Stacy Hanley adding a second try on 29 minutes.

Just before the break, Gemma Faulkner extended the lead with a well-taken try on 36 minutes, with Jemma Lees adding the conversion to give Galwegians a strong position heading into half-time.

Wicklow came back into the game in the second half, but Galwegians continued to answer. Grace Browne Moran crossed early in the half on 46 minutes to keep the pressure on the hosts.

As the game entered the final stages, Saoirse Lawley added another important try on 74 minutes. In a dramatic finish, Faulkner grabbed her second of the game on 78 minutes, with Lees converting to bring Galwegians level.

Despite a strong attacking performance and multiple standout moments, Wicklow matched Galwegians throughout, and the game finished all square in an entertaining and hard-fought draw on the road.
